La teoría del afecto y la práctica crítica literaria desarrollan nuevos enfoques para la lectura de la literatura que se basan en las ideas de académicos que trabajan en estudios del afecto en muchas disciplinas, con ensayos que consideran obras de ficción, drama, poesía y memorias que van desde la época medieval hasta la posmodernidad. Mientras elaboran lecturas de textos representativos, los contribuyentes reflexionan sobre el valor de la teoría del afecto para la práctica crítica literaria y se preguntan: ¿qué poder explicativo me ofrece la teoría del afecto aquí como crítico? ¿Qué pueden ayudarme a hacer las ideas de la teoría con un texto? Los contribuyentes trabajan para incorporar líneas de teoría que no siempre se leen juntas, dando cuenta de las intensidades afectivas que circulan a través de los textos y los lectores y rastreando las operaciones de guiones sociales cargados afectivamente. Basándose de diversas formas en la teoría racial queer, feminista y crítica e informados por sensibilidades ecocríticas y nuevas materialistas, los ensayos del volumen comparten una práctica crítica fundada en una ética de la relación y contribuyen a un momento emergente de poscrítica. |
