| Resumen: |
Coastal erosion is an environmental and socioeconomic problem that affects various regions of the world, and Colombia is no stranger to this problem. Playa Salguero, in Santa Marta, has shown significant changes in its coastline due to natural and anthropogenic factors. The objective of this study was to analyze the coastal dynamics of this area through a multitemporal analysis using GIS, in order to better understand erosion and accretion patterns and propose coastal management recommendations according to local conditions. The methodology used satellite images and coastlines from 2016 to 2025, processed and analyzed with geoprocessing tools such as ArcGIS Pro and DSAS. Indicators such as LRR, NSM y SCE were applied to quantify spatial and temporal variations. The areas most susceptible to erosion and accretion processes were identified. On average, the coastal erosion rate of Playa Salguero is 26 cm per year and accretion is 182 cm per year. The net movement of the line is 6.23 m with negative displacement and 16.21 m with positive movement. Based on the results obtained, coastal management recommendations were given, prioritizing Nature Based Solutions (NBS) over hard works mitigation measures. In this way, this study contributes to the monitoring and sustainable management of the coastline, providing fundamental information for environmental institutions and local authorities in charge of territorial planning in Playa Salguero |
