Resumen:	Este libro se centra en cómo mejorar la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de la educación matemática en el nivel primario en contextos con recursos limitados. Se basa en dos grandes proyectos de aritmética realizados en Sudáfrica que abordan preocupaciones más amplias y globales y destacan cómo la investigación y el desarrollo no solo permiten cumplir con imperativos éticos, sino que también exploran cómo se pueden desarrollar otras intervenciones. Las comunidades de docentes e investigadores deben trabajar juntas para crear relaciones mutuamente beneficiosas y establecer una comprensión cohesiva de los requisitos de la educación matemática en el nivel primario.
