Este Festschrift contiene numerosos ensayos coloridos y eclécticos de conocidos matemáticos, filósofos, lógicos y lingüistas que celebran el 90 cumpleaños de Reuben Hersh. Los ensayos ofrecen, en parte, intentos de responder las siguientes preguntas planteadas por el propio Reuben como tema central de este volumen: ¿Pueden los matemáticos en ejercicio, como tales, contribuir en algo a la filosofía de las matemáticas? ¿Pueden o deberían los filósofos de las matemáticas, como tales, decir algo a los matemáticos practicantes? Dentro de veinte o cincuenta años, ¿qué será similar y qué será, podría o debería ser completamente diferente: sobre la filosofía de las matemáticas? ¿Sobre la educación matemática? ¿Acerca de las instituciones de investigación matemática? ¿Sobre el procesamiento de datos y la informática científica? Los ensayos también ofrecen vislumbres de la mente fértil de Reuben y su influencia duradera en la comunidad matemática, además de revelar las diversas raíces, obstáculos y disposiciones filosóficas que caracterizan la vida laboral de los matemáticos.
