Este volumen examina el papel y la función de las organizaciones de base religiosa en el fortalecimiento de la vida asociativa en una muestra representativa de países de Europa occidental: democracias recientemente democratizadas y democracias establecidas desde hace mucho tiempo, sociedades con y sin una tradición religiosa dominante y estados de bienestar con diferentes niveles y tipos. de los servicios sociales proporcionados por el Estado. Se pregunta cómo las organizaciones religiosas, en tiempos de crisis económica y con un número cada vez menor de seguidores, podrían contribuir a la profundización de la democracia. En todo momento, el volumen invita a los científicos sociales a considerar el papel actual de las organizaciones religiosas en la sociedad civil de Europa occidental e investiga si el concepto de vitalidad apagada ayuda a nuestra comprensión teórica. |
