Esta colección de ensayos investiga la forma en que África ha sido retratada en los escenarios de Londres desde la década de 1950 hasta el presente. Se centra en si (y, en caso afirmativo, en qué medida) el África que emerge de la escena londinense está sujeta a estereotipos y/o de qué manera la recepción del público y la crítica ha contribuido a una comprensión del continente y sus artes. . La colección, dividida en dos partes, reúne a académicos consagrados y académicos emergentes, así como a dramaturgos, directores e intérpretes actualmente activos en Londres. Centrándose en Wole Soyinka, Athol Fugard, Bola Agbaje, Biyi Bandele y Dipo Agboluaje, entre otros, el volumen examina el trabajo de compañías clave como Tiata Fahodzi y Talawa, así como las compañías más nuevas Two Gents, Iroko Theatre y Spora. Cuentos. También se incluyen entrevistas con Rotimi Babatunde, Ade Solanke y Dipo Agboluaje sobre la escena londinense contemporánea. |
