Resumen

El presente artículo pretende comparar las redes académicas de alta velocidad en el entorno mundial, relacionando las redes con infraestructura continental (RedCLARA, Internet2, GÉANT, APAN y TEIN3), y a su vez, las redes nacionales (RNP, RENATA, CANARIE, RedIRIS y JGN2Plus) que se interconectan a través de ellas. Además, se precisan aspectos fundamentales como historia, características y especificaciones técnicas (velocidades de transmisión, anchos de banda, porcentajes de utilización de los canales, equipos de interconexión WAN, los proyectos de investigación más relevantes y los servicios que prestan), mostrando sus diferencias y similitudes.

Abstract

This article aims to compare the high-speed academic networks in the global environment, linking the continental infrastructure networks (CLARA, Internet2, GÉANT, and TEIN3 APAN), and in turn, national networks (RNP, RENATA, CANARIE, RedIRIS and JGN2Plus) that are interconnected through them. In addition, the article shows fundamental aspects as history, characteristics and technical specifications (speed transmission, bandwidth, utilization rates of the channels, WAN interconnection equipment, the most important research projects and the services they provide), showing their differences and similarities.

El presente artículo pretende comparar las redes académicas de alta velocidad en el entorno mundial, relacionando las redes con infraestructura continental (RedCLARA, Internet2, GÉANT, APAN y TEIN3), y a su vez, las redes nacionales (RNP, RENATA, CANARIE, RedIRIS y JGN2Plus) que se interconectan a través de ellas.
