| Resumen: |
The research entitled “Ancestral Games and Ethnic Identities of Afro-descendant Children from Commune 8 in MedellÃn (2024)†explores how traditional play practices strengthen cultural identity, sense of belonging, and collective memory among Afro-descendant children in urban contexts. Using a qualitative approach based on interviews, focus groups, and participant observation, the study reveals that ancestral games are not only recreational activities but also intergenerational channels for transmitting values, knowledge, and bodily expressions that resist cultural homogenization. Findings indicate that, despite challenges such as the decline of traditional practices due to migration, globalization, and discrimination, children preserve these expressions through orality, singing, and body language. The study concludes that the recovery and visibility of ancestral games are key pedagogical and community strategies for identity reinforcement, social cohesion, and the construction of intercultural territories. |
