| Resumen: |
This research proposal allows exploring ideas about values and value criteria that can create tensions and conflicts based on differences in identities, as well as self-care and care for the Other and the ethics of compassion, which can make possible the mediation of conflicts and tensions in school coexistence. It was oriented towards the understanding of the genesis of values in the human being and the use of some of these values, little explored, in the mediation of these conflicts, alleviating the tensions, at the moment in which these emerge. In order to collect and weigh the information, the voices of members of the educational community of the José MarÃa Hernández school in Puerto LeguÃzamo, Putumayo were taken as reference points. The institution is located in a jungle region, where there are permanent social tensions due to the armed conflict. Epistemologically, the study was based on the interpretative hermeneutic paradigm, with a humanistic interpretative approach and ethnographic qualitative methodology. Semi-structured interview, participant and non-participant observation techniques were used. The categories addressed were: school coexistence, family-school-society relationship, value criteria, and ethics of compassion. Ten students from grade 11-03, two teachers, one administrative and one teacher manager participated. The most representative findings showed how the experience of value criteria such as welcoming, caring for oneself - caring for the Other, deference, hospitality and good living, have a positive impact on relieving tensions when school conflicts arise in the daily work of the educational community. In conclusion, the need to establish the promotion and practice of an ethics of compassion, where the care of oneself and the other guide the educational-formative processes based on the pillars of Shalom Schwartz and Joan-Carles Mèlich, was highlighted. |
