| Resumen: |
Occupational fatigue has become a critical phenomenon in contemporary work environments, with significant implications for workers’ health, well-being, and organizational productivity. This study aimed to examine how occupational fatigue manifests in the production and service sectors in Latin America, adopting a multidimensional and systemic perspective beyond an individual or compliance-based approach. A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional design was employed with a sample of 726 workers from six companies in Colombia and Peru. Fatigue was assessed using the Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory (MFI) and the Spanishmodified version of the Swedish Occupational Fatigue Inventory (SOFI-SM). The findings revealed distinct fatigue profiles across economic sectors, with higher levels of mental and overall fatigue in the service sector, while the production sector showed greater physical fatigue. Significant associations were identified between fatigue levels and sociodemographic characteristics, personal conditions, and work-related variables. These results support the conceptualization of occupational fatigue as a multidimensional and organizational phenomenon, highlighting the need for preventive and strategic approaches focused on sustainable well-being and long-term organizational performance. |
