| Resumen: |
Conogethes es un grupo de polillas distribuidas en la región austral-asiática desde la India hasta Nueva Guinea, las Islas Salomón y Australia. Las polillas también se encuentran en Hawái y Gran Bretaña. Conogethes es conocido principalmente por el impacto económico de sus larvas en los cultivos agrícolas. Se han realizado importantes investigaciones para comprender la biología de estos insectos dañinos y desarrollar estrategias para limitar su impacto. Se están realizando investigaciones sobre la comunicación química entre machos y hembras a través de feromonas sexuales. Investigaciones recientes también se han centrado en la comunicación acústica de Conogethes. Las polillas pueden alimentarse de más de 200 plantas en hábitats diversificados. Las polillas barrenadoras se han convertido en una plaga importante en árboles hortícolas, agrícolas, de avenidas y forestales. Es una plaga de importancia cuarentenaria ya que se ha encontrado en productos exportables. El libro contiene 22 capítulos de una docena de países. Los autores son de China, Vietnam, Australia, Sri Lanka, Malasia, Noruega, etc. Este es el primer libro sobre la plaga a nivel mundial donde se brindan ideas interesantes.
