| Resumen: |
Teaching English pronunciation in Colombia faces significant obstacles, particularly with minimal pairs that are challenging for Spanish speakers. This research aimed to evaluate the impact of a constructionist didactic proposal, based on creating audio classification models with Google Teachable Machine (GTM), on the auditory recognition and oral production of primary school students. A quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test study was implemented with a control group (n=21) that received traditional instruction and an experimental group (n=22) that actively worked with the AI tool. Quantitative results showed that both groups achieved statistically significant improvements, especially in oral production, with no significant differences between them. However, the qualitative results were conclusively impactful on the experimental group: the GTM intervention generated exceptional levels of motivation, engagement, and positive learning perceptions. The study concludes that while the proposal's effectiveness is comparable to a well-executed traditional method in the short term, its main value lies in its capacity to transform the educational experience by fostering active, autonomous, and highly motivating learning. |
