| Resumen: |
This thesis engages in a deconstructive and methodological inquiry into the category of rural youth in uprooted existences, focusing on the spaces between what has been visible and named and what has been silenced and hidden.
This research reconstructs the conditions in which the "rural youth" subject was configured, also known as a rural young person, or, more bluntly, the "young rural subject." This was a process of youth subjectivation, with the recognition of rural young people’s voices marking the emergence of the subject/object split, expressed in the division of young rural subject/rural territory object. This occurred during the configuration of modernity and the transformation of western ruralities, even those of the so-called Third World.
The author argues that the young rural subject is a product of the installation of rural modernization in the West. Its configuration occurs as a hinge between images of backwardness vs. progress and past vs. future. This subject contains contradictory manifestations of an existence that is an view towards the future, an excess of promises and an absence of omens in the present.
This study is positioned at the confluence of Youth Studies and Southern Environmental Thought and offers the Archaeology of the Beloved as a methodo-aesthetic narrative fabric as a proposal for stitching wounds through narratively recovering the effects of its production. The research focuses on the sensitive affections that reveal rural lives as uprooted existences proposes a line of flight towards a horizon of creating meanings regarding rural life today. |
