Este volumen proporciona la clave para un discurso más profundo sobre la filosofía en África. La literatura disponible y la práctica académica en filosofía africana desde la década de 1960 han presentado en gran medida discursos en las áreas de origen, significado general y naturaleza de la disciplina, con poca atención prestada a áreas especializadas. Por el contrario, este libro examina un cambio notable de enfoque desde preocupaciones generales hacia temas más específicos, en áreas como la epistemología, la filosofía moral, la metafísica, la estética y la filosofía social y política a la luz de la experiencia africana. El volumen incluye discursos específicos de colaboradores expertos sobre la naturaleza, la historia y el alcance de la ética y la metafísica africanas, al tiempo que analiza temas particulares de la epistemología africana, la filosofía de la educación, el existencialismo y la filosofía política.
