Resumen:	Explorando críticamente los presupuestos de la teoría social contemporánea, esta colección aboga por un diálogo transcivilizacional y una profundización del universo del discurso intelectual para transformar la sociología en una conversación verdaderamente planetaria sobre la condición humana. Centrándose en perspectivas de Asia, en particular Asia Oriental y la India, interroga las presuposiciones de la teoría social crítica contemporánea sobre el hombre, la cultura y la sociedad, y considera temas centrales como el conocimiento y el poder, el conocimiento y la liberación. Las diversas contribuciones abordan cuestiones clave como la globalización de la teoría social, la identidad y la sociedad en el este de Asia, así como cuestiones como la biopolítica, el bienestar social y el eurocentrismo. También examinan los diálogos a lo largo de múltiples trayectorias entre teóricos sociales del mundo euroamericano y del universo asiático, como entre Kant y Gandhi, Habermas y Sri Aurobindo, la tradición Bildung en Europa y las tradiciones confucianas.
