Resumen:	Este libro presenta sistemáticamente la práctica de la justicia restaurativa en la India, como recurso para la investigación de la justicia penal comparada. La "justicia restaurativa" se centra en la rehabilitación de los delincuentes mediante la reconciliación con las víctimas y con la comunidad en general. Ha cobrado impulso como movimiento de reforma de la justicia en los países occidentales en las últimas tres décadas, y se estima que hasta cien países en todo el mundo utilizan prácticas de justicia restaurativa. En los países occidentales, se considera en gran medida una respuesta o alternativa a las deficiencias percibidas del sistema de justicia penal existente. India tiene una rica tradición de justicia restaurativa, y este trabajo presenta tanto las bases tradicionales como las prácticas contemporáneas de este sistema de justicia en la India, de una manera integral y sistemática.
