Este volumen editado explora los encuentros y enredos musicales entre Alemania y las naciones del este de Asia desde 1900 hasta el presente. Al hacerlo, habla de sus relaciones musicales dinámicas y multifacéticas de múltiples maneras. A pesar de que Asia Oriental y Alemania están situadas en extremos opuestos del mundo, la música alemana ha encontrado un suelo notablemente fértil en Asia Oriental. Los asiáticos orientales lo han adoptado con entusiasmo, añadiendo al mismo tiempo sus propias interpretaciones musicales. Estos encuentros musicales han producido composiciones que reflejan esta influencia mutua, estimulándose y enriqueciéndose mutuamente a través de su entrelazamiento.
