Mientras intenta encontrar un consenso sobre los próximos pasos para el futuro de la investigación DSS, el libro también refuerza las tendencias y nuevas tecnologÃas actualmente en uso. El libro examina temas como el análisis de decisiones para sistemas empresariales y redes no jerárquicas, soluciones integradas para el soporte de decisiones y gestión del conocimiento en entornos distribuidos, evaluación y análisis de sistemas de soporte de decisiones a través de redes sociales y e-learning y su aplicación a entornos reales. Presenta claramente la evidencia que respalda sus casos e intenta promover una discusión extensa y objetiva. Además, el libro también reflexiona sobre enfoques a ideas sin salida y fallas en DSS para comprender mejor las lecciones aprendidas.
