Desde finales del siglo XIX, cuando la "nueva ciencia" de la psicología y el interés por los fenómenos esotéricos y ocultos convergieron -lo que condujo al "descubrimiento" del inconsciente- las disciplinas duales de la psicología profunda y el misticismo se han unido en una unión a menudo impía. Continuando con esta tradición y los desafíos que conlleva, este volumen incluye una variedad de enfoques interdisciplinarios para el estudio de la psicología profunda, el misticismo y la experiencia mística, que abarcan los campos de la teología, los estudios religiosos y la psicología de la religión.
