Este libro explora cómo los discursos sociales alarmistas sobre los jóvenes "crueles" no reconocen la complejidad de la crueldad y el papel que desempeña en la acción infantil. Al examinar las representaciones de jóvenes crueles en los textos populares y la cultura popular, los ensayos recopilados demuestran cómo el género, la raza y la clase influyen en quién es etiquetado como "cruel" y qué acciones se consideran negativas, agresivas y disruptivas. Muestra cómo las representaciones de jóvenes crueles negocian la violencia que ensombrece a la sociedad educada, y cómo se utilizan narrativas de crueldad y agresión para afirmar o negar la agencia de los jóvenes. |
