Las prácticas patrimoniales a menudo conducen a la exclusión social, ya que dichas prácticas pueden favorecer ciertos valores sobre otros. En algunos casos, la exclusión del panorama simbólico de una sociedad puede provocar controversia o despertar emociones hasta el punto de que desemboquen en una contestación cultural. Abundan los ejemplos de esto, pero pocos estudios analizan explícitamente el papel del gobierno en estos casos. En este volumen, académicos de diversos orígenes académicos examinan los diversos y a menudo conflictivos roles que desempeñan los gobiernos en estos procesos, y los gobiernos sí desempeñan un papel. Actúan como autores y autorizadores del paisaje simbólico, del cual los grupos sociales pueden sentirse excluidos. Sin embargo, a menudo también intentan unir a las partes y desempeñar un papel mitigador. |
