Este libro examina la ética de los cuidados al final de la vida, centrándose en los tipos de decisiones que se toman comúnmente en la práctica clínica. Se presta especial atención a la intensificación del tratamiento de los síntomas terminales, en particular el alivio del dolor, y a la retirada y suspensión de la atención, en particular la atención médica que salva o prolonga la vida. El libro está estructurado en tres secciones. La primera sección contiene ensayos que examinan los cuidados al final de la vida desde la perspectiva de la teoría moral y la teología. El segundo establece varios términos conceptuales y distinciones relevantes para la toma de decisiones al final de la vida. La tercera sección contiene capítulos que se centran en cuestiones éticas sustantivas. Este formato no sólo proporciona un análisis integral de las cuestiones éticas que surgen en el contexto de los cuidados al final de la vida, sino que también permite a los lectores rastrear de manera efectiva los fundamentos filosóficos, teológicos y conceptuales que informan sus intereses específicos. Este trabajo será de interés para los académicos que trabajan en el área, así como para los médicos, especialistas y profesionales de la salud que encuentren estos problemas en el curso de su práctica. . |
