Tipo de medio : Computadora Summary : This volume, dedicated to the memory of Gerard Mannion (1970-2019), former Joseph and Winifred Amaturo Chair in Catholic Studies at Georgetown University, explores the topic of changing the church from a range of different theological perspectives. The volume contributors offer answers to questions such as: What needs to be changed in the universal church and in the particular denominations? How has change influenced the life of the church? What are the dangers that change brings with it? What awaits the church if it refuses to change? Many of the essays focus on people who have changed the church significantly and on events that have catalyzed change, for the better or for the worse. Some also present visions of change for particular Christian denominations, whether over the ordination of the women, different approaches to sexuality, reform of the magisterium, and many other issues related to change. Título : Hope in the Ecumenical Future Tipo de documento: documento electrónico Autores: Chapman, Mark D., Mención de edición: 1 ed. Editorial: [s.l.] . Nota de contenido: 1. Mark Chapman, Introduction: Hope in the Ecumenical Future -- 2. Mary Doak, The Unity (and Disunity) of Our Hope -- 3. Thomas Hughson SJ, The Holy Spirit And Ecumenism: From Hope to Charity -- 4. Sandra Mazzolini, Together Towards Life: Christian Hope and Its Witness: Some Theological Aspects and Missiological Implications -- 5. Craig Phillips, The Reign of God and the Church: Giorgio Agamben's Messianic Critique of the Church -- 6. Jakob Egeris Thorsen, The Ecumenism of Mission: Impulses from the Aparecida Document (CELAM V) and Evangelii Gaudium -- 7. Gerard Mannion, Pope Francis and Hope in the Ecumenical Future: A Papacy of Encounter -- 8. Christopher Hill, Hope versus Optimism: the Hidden Rocks in Anglican Roman Catholic Dialogue -- 9. Marguerite Kappelhoff, The Marks of the Church: A Paradigm for the Twenty-First-Century Church -- 10. Patricia Madigan OP, Hope in Dark Times: Australian Churches Covenanting Together 1994-2014 -- 11. Chukwumamkpam Vincent Ifeme, From the Inner Being of God to Inter-Faith Dialogue -- 12. Richard Penaskovic, A Pluralist Before Her Time: Simone Weil On The World Religions. Tipo de medio : Computadora Summary : This book offers fresh insights into the contemporary state of Ecumenism. Following the election of Pope Francis, there has been a significant thaw in ecumenical relations, and there are grounds for thinking that this will continue into the future. The twelve chapters, written both by experienced ecumenical theologians as well as younger scholars, that have been gathered together in this collection, offer one of the first detailed assessments of the impact of Francis' papacy on ecumenical dialogue. Drawing on ecumenical methodology, as well as many practical examples and illustrations, the authors discuss the developments in culture and missiology as these affect the practice of ecumenism, particular in response to theologies of hope as well as inter-religious dialogue and pluralism. What emerges is a clear sense of hope for the future in a rapidly changing world and even a sense of optimism that real ecumenical progress might be made. . Same-sex love and desire: a time for new approaches; Mark Chapman and Dominic Janes -- 2.Theological amnesia and same-sex love; Adrian Thatcher -- 3. Sexuality as a guide to ethics: God and the variable body in English literature; Chris Mounsey -- 4. The tradition of homophobia: responses to same-sex relationships in Serbian Orthodoxy from the nineteenth century to the present day; Nik Jovi‡-Sas -- 5. Sexual ethics in the shadow of modernism: George Tyrrell, Andr© Raffalovich and the project that never was, Philip Heal -- 6.'Pope Norman', Griffin's Report and Roman Catholic reactions to homosexual law reform in England and Wales, 1954Ѐ“1971; Alana Harris -- 7. They found a niche: same-sex-attracted people in Australian Anglicanism; David Hilliard -- 8. 'The ecclesial wing of the lavender revolution': religion and sexual identity organising in the USA, 1946-1976; Heather Rachelle White -- 9. Christ and the Homosexual: an early manifesto for an affirming Christian ministry to homosexuals; Bernard Schlager -- 10. Homosexual practice' and the Anglican Communion from the 1990s: a case study in theology and identity; Mark Chapman -- 11. How queer can Christian marriage be? Eschatological imagination and the blessing of same-sex unions in the American Episcopal Church; R©my Bethmont -- 12. Setting the table anew: queering the Lord's Supper in contemporary art; Mariecke van den Berg -- 13. The queerness of saints: inflecting devotion and same-sex desire; Donald L. Boisvert -- Index. Tipo de medio : Computadora Summary : This book offers a range of interdisciplinary evaluations of the history of same-sex relationships in the Church as they have been understood in different periods and contexts. The relationships between diverse forms of religious and sexual identities have been widely contested in the media since the rise of the lesbian and gay liberation movement in the 1970s. One of the key images that often appears in public debate is that of 'lesbians and gays in the Church' as a significant 'problem'. Research over the past forty years or so into queer theology and the history of same-sex desire has shown that such issues have played an important role in the story of Christianity over many centuries. The contributors to this volume have all been inspired by the challenges of such revisionist study to explore religion and same-sex desire as a field of opportunity for investigation and debate. They uncover some of the hidden histories of the Church and its theologies: they tell sometimes unexpected stories, many of which invite serious further study. It is quite clear through history that some in the churches have been at the vanguard of legislative and social change. Similarly, some churches have offered safe queer spaces. Overall, these essays offer new interpretations and original research into the history of sexuality that helps inform the contemporary debate in the churches as well as in the academy.
