Este libro explora las fuerzas que impulsaron a China, el estado socialista más grande del mundo, a realizar cambios masivos en su postura interna e internacional durante la larga década de 1970. Catorce distinguidos académicos investigan el papel especial, quizás crucial, que jugó el territorio de Hong Kong a la hora de fomentar y ayudar a la relación de China con el mundo no comunista. Los largos años setenta fueron los años en que China avanzó dramática y decisivamente hacia relaciones mucho más estrechas con el mundo no comunista.
