Este libro reúne una amplia gama de enfoques y metodologías relevantes para la educación y formación profesional (EFP) comparada a nivel internacional. Al revelar cómo las crisis económicas afectan a los jóvenes en transición, proporciona información esencial sobre las fortalezas y debilidades de los diversos sistemas y perspectivas de la FP en contextos que van desde América del Norte hasta Europa (por ejemplo, España, Alemania o el Reino Unido) y Asia (como como China, Tailandia y la India). Aunque cada país examinado en este volumen se ve afectado por la crisis económica de manera diferente, los efectos son especialmente evidentes para la generación joven. En muchos países, la tasa de desempleo juvenil sigue siendo muy alta y las perspectivas laborales para los jóvenes suelen ser, en el mejor de los casos, limitadas. Las contribuciones de este volumen demuestran que la FP por sí sola no puede resolver estos problemas, pero puede utilizarse para apoyar una transición fluida de la escuela al trabajo. Si la calidad de la FP es alta y el estatus y las expectativas laborales son buenos, la FP puede ayudar a llenar el vacío de habilidades, especialmente en el nivel intermedio. Además, la FP también puede ofrecer una alternativa realista a la carrera universitaria para los jóvenes en muchos países. |
