En comparación con las publicaciones existentes pertinentes, este libro incluye estudios de casos que capturan las realidades cotidianas de la población local y cómo reaccionan y se adaptan a situaciones similares en diferentes entornos geográficos. Cada estudio de caso presentado en este libro transmite un mensaje particular. La fortaleza de este libro radica en el hecho de que cubre los temas más desatendidos en las negociaciones climáticas, a pesar de que estos deciden el destino de millones de personas en todo el mundo, especialmente en los países en desarrollo. Al presentar una colección de estudios de casos de África, Asia y Europa, este libro fomenta el intercambio de conocimientos entre continentes. El alcance del libro abarca desde los impactos hasta la mitigación y desde los experimentos sobre el terreno hasta la implementación de políticas. Como descubrirán los lectores, la coviabilidad de los sistemas sociales y ecológicos se basa en la contradicción entre la humanidad, que adopta objetivos concretos, y la biosfera, que se refiere a funciones ecológicas.
