Este libro proporciona información detallada sobre los límites geográficos y los sistemas ecológicos de Caatinga, incluidos plantas, insectos, peces, anfibios, reptiles, aves y mamíferos. También analiza las principales amenazas a los sistemas socioecológicos de la región e incluye capítulos sobre el cambio climático y los cambios rápidos y de gran escala en el uso de la tierra, así como los cambios lentos y de pequeña escala, también conocidos como perturbaciones humanas crónicas. Los capítulos siguientes abordan la agricultura sostenible, los sistemas de conservación y el desarrollo sostenible.
