Este libro examina la recepción del romanticismo británico en la India y el este de Asia (incluidos Japón, China, Corea y Taiwán). Basándose en estudios recientes sobre el ''romanticismo global'', este libro desarrolla un modelo de erudición más recíproco y transcultural, en el que el ''romanticismo asiático'' se reconoce como una parte importante de la tradición literaria romántica. Explora las conexiones entre autores románticos británicos canónicos (incluidos Austen, Blake, Byron, Shelley y Wordsworth) y escritores asiáticos destacados (incluidos Nehru, Ōe, Sōseki, Tagore y Zhimo). Además, este estudio cuestiona los supuestos eurocéntricos sobre la recepción y periodización literaria, centrándose en cómo, desde principios del siglo XIX, el romanticismo británico fue adaptado y transformado creativamente por escritores de varias naciones asiáticas. |
