Las autoras promueven la noción de interseccionalidad comparada para analizar las peculiaridades y puntos en común contextuales que definen sus identidades como mujeres negras y sus experiencias con la tenencia y la promoción en los dos espacios geográficos. Al hacerlo, funciona a través de un tratamiento comparativo de las (des)igualdades sociales, (dis)paridades educativas e (in)justicias existentes en la promoción y retención de mujeres académicas negras. Estos exámenes interpretativos ofrecen ideas importantes sobre cómo los conocimientos y experiencias subyugados de las mujeres negras continúan siendo suprimidos dentro de las estructuras de poder dominantes y cómo se negocian en todos los contextos. By so doing, it works through a comparative treatment of existing social (in)equalities, educational (dis)parities, and (in)justices in the promotion and retention of Black women academics. Such interpretative examinations offer important insights into how Black women's subjugated knowledge and experiences continue to be suppressed within mainstream structures of power and how they are negotiated across contexts.
