La resistencia a las terapias, tanto dirigidas como sistémicas, y las metástasis a órganos distantes son las causas subyacentes de la mortalidad asociada al cáncer de mama. La segunda edición de Metástasis del cáncer de mama y resistencia a los medicamentos reúne a algunos de los principales expertos para comprender de manera integral el cáncer de mama: los factores que lo hacen letal y la investigación y el progreso clínico actuales. Este volumen cubre los siguientes temas centrales: comprensión básica del cáncer de mama (estadísticas, epidemiología, disparidad y heterogeneidad racial), metástasis y resistencia a los medicamentos (metástasis ósea, resistencia al trastuzumab, resistencia al tamoxifeno y nuevos objetivos terapéuticos, incluidos ARN no codificantes, citoquinas inflamatorias , células madre cancerosas, ubiquitina ligasas, microambiente tumoral y vías de señalización como TRAIL, JAK-STAT y mTOR) y desarrollos recientes en el campo (regulación epigenética, regulación mediada por microARN, terapias novedosas y modelos 3D clínicamente relevantes).
