En este volumen pionero, destacados académicos de diversos orígenes en humanidades, ciencias sociales y diferentes áreas de estudio abogan por un papel más diferenciado y autorreflexivo de la ciencia basada en áreas en la producción global de conocimiento. Considerando que la movilidad de personas, bienes e ideas hace que el mundo sea más complejo y que las categorías geográficamente fijas se vuelvan cada vez más obsoletas, los autores piden que se refleje este nuevo dinamismo en la investigación, la enseñanza y la teorización. De este modo, el libro va más allá de la división construida entre estudios de área y disciplinas sistemáticas y, en cambio, propone formas metodológicas y conceptuales para fomentar la integración de epistemologías marginadas y a menudo ignoradas. Los ensayos sobre la dimensión ontológica, teórica y pedagógica de los estudios de área destacan cómo las prácticas cotidianas de movilidad de las personas desafían a los académicos, estudiantes y profesionales de los estudios de área inter y transdisciplinarios a trascender los límites cognitivos en los que operan actualmente las mentes académicas. |
