Basándose en nuevo material de investigación de diez países europeos, Determinación de asilo en Europa: perspectivas etnográficas reúne una variedad de relatos detallados de los procesos legales y burocráticos mediante los cuales se deciden las solicitudes de asilo. El libro incluye una descripción legal de los procedimientos europeos de determinación de asilo, seguidos por secciones sobre los diversos actores involucrados, los medios por los cuales se comunican y las formas en que toman decisiones de vida o muerte a diario. Ofrece un relato contextualmente rico que va más allá del derecho doctrinal para descubrir las brechas y variaciones entre la política y la legislación formales, y el derecho tal como se practica realmente. Los colaboradores emplean una variedad de perspectivas disciplinarias (sociológica, antropológica, geográfica y lingüística), pero están unidos en el uso de un enfoque metodológico etnográfico. A través de esta lente, el libro captura la confusión, la improvisación, la inconsistencia, la complejidad y la agitación emocional inherentes al proceso de solicitud de asilo en Europa. |
