Este atlas de texto es una excelente guía para el uso de PET-CT para la evaluación de la respuesta al tratamiento en pacientes oncológicos en función de su capacidad para evaluar el estado metabólico del tumor. La primera parte del libro explica el papel de la PET-CT en la evaluación de la respuesta en diferentes entornos de tratamiento. A modo de comparación, se incluyen resúmenes del valor y las limitaciones de la TC sola, la PET sola y la resonancia magnética anatómica y funcional. También se proporciona orientación sobre la notificación de exploraciones PET-CT en escenarios posteriores a la terapia. La segunda parte del libro describe e ilustra el uso de PET-CT con FDG y otros trazadores para evaluar la respuesta al tratamiento de tumores malignos en diferentes sitios anatómicos. Con una gran cantidad de imágenes, discusiones informativas basadas en casos y puntos de enseñanza basados en evidencia, estos capítulos específicos de enfermedades demuestran claramente el papel clave que la PET-CT puede desempeñar para distinguir a los pacientes con respuesta temprana de los pacientes que no responden o son resistentes a tratamiento. La evaluación rápida y precisa de la respuesta al tratamiento es vital a medida que entramos en la era de la medicina individualizada, y este atlas persuadirá a los lectores de las considerables ventajas de la PET-CT sobre los métodos clínicos y radiológicos convencionales. |
