El libro cubre diversos esfuerzos de investigación biotecnológica y sus aplicaciones en la pesca y la acuicultura, especialmente en el área de la crÃa de peces, la gestión sanitaria, la nutrición y la cultura. El libro incluye la aplicación de las herramientas biotecnológicas recientes, como la transcriptómica, la transgénesis, la nanotecnologÃa, la metabolómica, las tecnologÃas RNAi y CRISPRi en el campo de la investigación pesquera. En el libro también se tratan temas como la genética de la conservación para la gestión de los recursos pesqueros. Su objetivo es abordar la creciente necesidad de la biotecnologÃa para promover la causa de la acuicultura con miras a proporcionar seguridad alimentaria y nutricional al mundo. Este libro será de inmensa utilidad para profesores, investigadores, académicos, funcionarios de desarrollo y formuladores de polÃticas involucrados en la I+D de los sectores de la pesca y la acuicultura. Además, el libro sirve como material de lectura adicional para estudiantes de pregrado y posgrado en pesca, ciencias marinas, ecologÃa, acuicultura y ciencias ambientales.
