El viaje hacia la reducción del riesgo de desastres y la resiliencia requiere la participación de una amplia gama de partes interesadas, desde académicos hasta responsables de polÃticas y gestores de desastres. Dada la naturaleza multifacética e interdependiente de los desastres, la reducción del riesgo de desastres y la resiliencia requieren un enfoque multidisciplinario de resolución de problemas y técnicas basadas en evidencia de las ciencias naturales, sociales, de ingenierÃa y otras ciencias relevantes. Tradicionalmente, los estudios relacionados con peligros y desastres han estado dominados por los campos de la ingenierÃa y las ciencias sociales. En este sentido, el objetivo principal de este libro es capturar la naturaleza multidisciplinaria y multisectorial de la reducción del riesgo de desastres y recopilar datos, investigaciones, trabajos conceptuales y casos prácticos existentes sobre la reducción del riesgo y sus vÃnculos con el desarrollo sostenible bajo un solo " paraguas." Junto con el aspecto de sostenibilidad, el libro también vincula la reducción del riesgo de desastres con el desarrollo, la tecnologÃa, la gobernanza, la educación y el cambio climático, e incluye debates sobre desafÃos, soluciones y mejores prácticas en la incorporación de la reducción del riesgo de desastres. The journey towards disaster risk reduction and resilience requires the participation of a wide array of stakeholders ranging from academics to policymakers, to disaster managers. Given the multifaceted and interdependent nature of disasters, disaster risk reduction and resilience require a multidisciplinary problem-solving approach and evidence-based techniques from the natural, social, engineering, and other relevant sciences. Traditionally, hazard and disaster-related studies have been dominated by the engineering and social science fields. In this regard, the main purpose of this book is to capture the multidisciplinary and multisectoral nature of disaster risk reduction, and to gather existing data, research, conceptual work, and practical cases regarding risk reduction and its ties to sustainable development under a single "umbrella." Along with the sustainability aspect, the book also links disaster risk reduction with development, technology, governance, education, and climate change, and includes discussions on challenges, solutions, and best practices in the mainstreaming of disaster risk reduction.
