Este volumen reúne ideas sobre las interacciones entre el cambio ambiental y la seguridad humana en Medio Oriente y África. Estas regiones enfrentan desafíos particulares en relación con la degradación ambiental, la disminución de los recursos naturales y los consiguientes riesgos para la seguridad humana actual y futura. Los capítulos proporcionan análisis temáticos de una variedad de disciplinas sobre la teoría, el discurso, las políticas y la práctica de responder al cambio ambiental global y las amenazas a la seguridad humana. Los estudios de caso de Marruecos, Túnez, Egipto, Turquía, Irak y Siria proporcionan evidencia empírica, con una sección dedicada a la cuestión crítica de los recursos hídricos y la seguridad hídrica en la región. Las contribuciones demuestran sobre todo que los riesgos que plantea a la seguridad humana surgen a través de procesos múltiples e interconectados que operan en diversas escalas espaciales y temporales. La complejidad de estos procesos requiere nuevas formas de pensar e intervenir. Como contribución, el volumen actual proporciona interesantes conocimientos de la teoría y la práctica para quienes buscan abordar los desafíos del cambio ambiental. |
