Ciudades de todo el mundo han recurrido a arquitectos estrella para dar marca a sus proyectos, impulsar la regeneración urbana y comercializar la imagen de la ciudad a nivel internacional. Este libro desvía la atención de los arquitectos estrella a la arquitectura estrella, argumentando que el proceso de decidir e implementar proyectos arquitectónicos y urbanos relevantes no es producto de un solo actor. De hecho, la arquitectura estelar puede estudiarse y entenderse mejor en su conjunto por múltiples actores y en su relación con la transformación urbana. En sus 18 capítulos, el libro presenta una colección multidisciplinaria de contribuciones de expertos en los campos de la planificación urbana, la arquitectura, los estudios de medios, la economía urbana, la geografía y la sociología, reunidas sistemáticamente por primera vez para abordar este tema. A través de una amplia gama de estudios de casos y técnicas analíticas que afectan a más de 20 ciudades de Europa, el libro muestra los impactos positivos y más problemáticos de la arquitectura estrella con referencia a la preservación del patrimonio construido, el turismo y los medios de comunicación.
