Esta colección editada es una historia global de las organizaciones de trabajadores desde 1919, año en que se formaron la Organización Internacional del Trabajo (OIT), la Internacional Comunista y la Federación Internacional de Sindicatos. Este momento histórico representa una cesura en la historia del trabajo, ya que personifica el comienzo de lo que los editores y colaboradores de este libro llaman la internacionalización de la cuestión laboral. Los estudios de caso en este volumen centenario analizan la relación entre las organizaciones globales de trabajadores y la nueva confrontación ideológica entre el capitalismo liberal, el socialismo y el comunismo desde la Revolución Bolchevique en Rusia. Las organizaciones de trabajadores, en particular los sindicatos, crecieron en importancia y lograron organizarse internacionalmente, formando alianzas cimentadas por la ideología y sostenidas por organismos o centrales institucionales internacionales. En la naciente lucha capitalista versus comunista, los sindicatos prosperaron. ¿Es mera coincidencia que el declive actual del sindicalismo coincida con el fin del antagonismo ideológico? Este libro enfatiza importantes cuestiones laborales globales como el género, así como las historias de los trabajadores internacionales de América Latina, Asia y África. |
