The objective is to know what the experiences of adults with a cancer diagnosis are like and their relationship with emotional stress. This is qualitative research with a grounded theory design. 21 adults participated, including men and women with various types of cancer, in active status and in remission, from the city of Manizales and La Dorada Caldas. The data was collected through an in-depth interview in which the participants recounted their experiences in a genuine manner and the results showed that, just as stress is present in all stages of the disease: receiving the diagnosis, treatment and remission, spirituality and/or faith are also present, as a coping strategy that contributed to mitigating emotional pain, which allows us to conclude that, from experience, pain acquires meaning and leads to positive changes and life lessons. |
