Este libro de texto proporciona una introducción integral al campo interdisciplinario de los Estudios Sociales de la Ciencia y la Tecnología (SSST). Durante las últimas dos décadas, las ciencias biomédicas han transformado nuestra comprensión de la relación entre los mundos social y natural, mientras que sus "visiones promisorias" parecen ofrecer oportunidades extraordinarias para el desarrollo económico y social. Pero junto con estas innovaciones científicas han surgido nuevos dilemas y desafíos sociales, políticos, bioéticos y legales, a menudo inesperados.
