Este volumen aborda la construcción y la representación artÃstica de las memorias traumáticas en el mundo occidental contemporáneo desde una variedad de enfoques y perspectivas crÃticas interdisciplinarias y transdisciplinarias, que abarcan desde lo cultural, lo polÃtico, lo histórico y lo ideológico hasta lo ético y lo estético, y distinguen entre traumas individuales, colectivos y culturales. Los capÃtulos introducen conceptos complementarios de diversos pensadores, entre ellos Cathy Caruth, Jacques Derrida, Judith Butler, Homi Bhabha, Abraham y Torok y Joyce Carol Oates; también se nutren de campos de estudio como los estudios de la memoria, la teorÃa de los afectos, la teorÃa narrativa y de género y los estudios culturales. Memoria traumática y las funciones polÃticas, económicas y transhistóricas de la literatura aborda el trauma como un fenómeno culturalmente arraigado y deconstruye la idea del trauma como algo universal, transhistórico y abstracto. |

The chapters introduce complementary concepts from diverse thinkers including Cathy Caruth, Jacques Derrida, Judith Butler, Homi Bhabha, Abraham and Torok, and Joyce Carol Oates; they also draw from fields of study such as Memory Studies, Theory of Affects, Narrative and Genre Theory, and Cultural Studies. Traumatic Memory and the Political, Economic, and Transhistorical Functions of Literature addresses trauma as a culturally embedded phenomenon and deconstructs the idea of trauma as universal, transhistorical, and abstract. |
