'Una contribución muy original al campo del análisis del discurso y un hito importante para la presentación y sistematización de la Escuela de Essex con contribuciones de una destacada gama de académicos de diferentes paÃses y disciplinas.' —Daniel Wrana, Universidad Martin Luther de Halle-Wittenberg, Alemania Este volumen editado reúne a destacados investigadores internacionales de todas las ciencias sociales para examinar las premisas teóricas, las opciones metodológicas y los potenciales crÃticos de la Escuela de análisis del discurso de Essex, fundada en el trabajo de Ernesto Laclau y Chantal Mouffe. Al hacerlo, presenta una imagen clara de un programa de investigación posestructuralista y posfundacional para la investigación del discurso posdisciplinario. Dividido en tres partes, comienza elaborando los fundamentos ontológicos, teóricos y metodológicos del enfoque del análisis del discurso de la Escuela de Essex. La segunda parte proporciona estudios de casos empÃricos que muestran cómo el programa de investigación de la Escuela de Essex informa e instruye la investigación empÃrica del discurso. En la tercera parte final, los autores explican cómo y con qué posibles consecuencias esta lÃnea de investigación del discurso contribuye a las prácticas sociales de crÃtica. Ofrece una contribución crucial a una mayor metodologización y operacionalización del enfoque de la Escuela de Essex para convertirlo en una alternativa viable a los enfoques analÃticos del discurso que toman posiciones dominantes en el "campo de estudios del discurso" actual. In doing so, it presents a clear picture of a poststructuralist and post-foundational research program to postdisciplinary discourse research. Divided into three parts, it begins by elaborating the ontological, theoretical and methodological foundations of the Essex School's approach to discourse analysis. The second part provides empirical case studies showing how the Essex School research program informs and instructs empirical discourse research. In the concluding third part authors explain how and with what possible consequences this strand of discourse research contributes to social practices of critique. It offers a crucial contribution to the further methodologization and operationalization of the Essex School's approach so as to make it a viable alternative to discourse-analytical approaches that take dominant positions in today's 'field of discourse studies'.
