Este libro aborda las complejas relaciones temporales que se dan en algunos tipos de jazz y música clásica, asà como en la novela, la obra de teatro y la poesÃa. Analiza estos múltiples niveles de ritmo desde la perspectiva de las ciencias sociales, asà como de las artes y las humanidades. A partir de su innovador trabajo en Re-framing Literacy, A Prosody of Free Verse and Multimodality, Poetry and Poetics, el autor explora el mundo de los múltiples o polirritmos en la música, la literatura y las ciencias sociales. Revela que los ritmos de múltiples capas son poco comunes y poco investigados. Sin embargo, son importantes para la experiencia del arte y las situaciones sociales, sobre todo porque vinculan lo fÃsico con el sentimiento y la toma de decisiones (el momento), asà como con la experiencia estética. Mientras que la mayorÃa de las relaciones polirrÃtmicas se sienten inconscientemente, este libro revela los patrones complejos que sustentan las estructuras del sentimiento y de la experiencia. "Como sugiere el tÃtulo, este libro ofrece un relato convincente de cómo funciona el ritmo, tanto en contextos regulares como irregulares. This book addresses the complex time relations that occur in some types of jazz and classical music, as well as in the novel, plays and poetry. It discusses these multiple levels of rhythm from a social science as well as an arts and humanities perspective. Building on his ground-breaking work in Re-framing Literacy, A Prosody of Free Verse and Multimodality, Poetry and Poetics, the author explores the world of multiple- or poly-rhythms in music, literature and the social sciences. He reveals that multi-layered rhythms are uncommon and little researched. Nevertheless, they are important to the experience of art and social situations, not least because they link physicality to feeling and to decision-making (timing), as well as to aesthetic experience. Whereas most poly-rhythmic relations are felt unconsciously, this book reveals the complex patterning that underpins the structures of feeling and of experience.
