Este libro explora el campo crÃtico del sonido teatral y los fenómenos sonoros del teatro. Reúne una amplia gama de temas relacionados, incluido el diseño de sonido y las ecografÃas sonoras, la voz como interpretación del sonido, la escucha como interpretación auditiva y la audiencia como resonancia. Explora formas radicales de interpretación sonora y nuestro compromiso con ellas, desde la creación de subjetividades sonoras hasta el ruido como polÃtica del sonido. Los capÃtulos introductorios rastrean la auralidad innata del teatro y la historia de los efectos y el diseño de sonido, al mismo tiempo que interrogan por qué el arte del sonido teatral se retrasó y estuvo subrepresentado en la filosofÃa, asà como en el teatro y la teorÃa de la performance. Los capÃtulos siguientes exploran el surgimiento de la práctica teatral con participación auditiva y se centran en ejemplos de sonido contemporáneo en y como teatro, incluido el teatro en la oscuridad, el teatro con auriculares y el teatro inmersivo, entre otros, a través de teorÃas de la percepción y filosofÃas de la escucha, la vocalidad, la sonoridad y ruido. |

This book explores the critical field of theatre sound and the sonic phenomena of theatre. It draws together a wide range of related topics, including sound design and sonic sonographies, voice as a performance of sound, listening as auditory performance, and audience as resonance. It explores radical forms of sonic performance and our engagement in it, from the creation of sonic subjectivities to noise as a politics of sound. The introductory chapters trace the innate aurality of theatre and the history of sound effects and design, while also interrogating why the art of theatre sound was delayed and underrepresented in philosophy as well as theatre and performance theory. Subsequent chapters explore the emergence of aurally engaged theatre practice and focus on examples of contemporary sound in and as theatre, including theatre in the dark, headphone theatre and immersive theatre, amongst others, through theories of perception and philosophies of listening, vocality, sonority and noise. |
