Este libro ofrece un marco conceptual para la comprensión crítica de los conflictos socioambientales actuales. Reflexiona sobre la evolución del sujeto y del pensamiento, un cambio en el pensamiento ambiental desencadenado por el desarrollo de conflictos ecoterritoriales y las respuestas sociales dadas a la cuestión ambiental. El libro, que reúne 40 años de escritura e investigación de los autores, explora la transición de la economía ecológica y el materialismo histórico al marxismo ecológico. Analiza la forja de la ecología política desde la teoría del valor en la economía política hasta la distribución ecológica y las ecologías de la diferencia; una transición hacia una racionalidad ambiental basada en la ontología de la diversidad, una política de la diferencia y una ética de la alteridad. Esta evolución del pensamiento da consistencia a un discurso teórico capaz de responder a los conflictos territoriales generados por la radicalización de la cuestión ambiental como cuestión social clave de nuestros tiempos. El libro es un llamado a responder al desafío urgente de revertir la tendencia hacia la muerte entrópica del planeta y construir un orden mundial sostenible. Enrique Leff es Investigador Titular del Instituto de Investigaciones Sociales y profesor de la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Es un teórico ambiental que trabaja en los campos de la Ecología Política, la Epistemología y Filosofía Ambiental, la Economía Ecológica y la Educación Ambiental. Fue Coordinador de la Red de Capacitación Ambiental para América Latina y el Caribe del PNUMA (1986-2008) y Coordinador del PNUMA para México (2007-2008). . |

This book offers a conceptual framework for the critical understanding of the present socio-environmental conflicts. It reflects on the evolution of subject and thought, a shift in environmental thinking triggered by the development of eco-territorial conflicts and the social responses given to the environmental question. Bringing together 40 years of the authors writing and research, the book explores the transition from ecological economics and historical materialism to ecological Marxism. It unpacks the forging of political ecology from value theory in political economy, to ecological distribution and ecologies of difference; a transition to an environmental rationality grounded in the ontology of diversity, a politics of difference and an ethics of otherness. This evolution in thinking gives consistency to a theoretical discourse able to respond to the territorial conflicts generated by the radicalization of the environmental question as a key social issue of our times. The book isa call to respond to the urgent challenge of reversing the tendency towards the entropic death of the planet and to building a sustainable world order. Enrique Leff is Senior Researcher for the Social Research Institute and a professor in the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He is an environmental theorist working in the fields of Political Ecology, Environmental Epistemology and Philosophy, Ecological Economics and Environmental Education. He was UNEP's Coordinator of the Environmental Training Network for Latin America and the Caribbean (1986-2008) and UNEP's Coordinator for Mexico (2007-2008). . |
