Este manual es el primero en ofrecer una investigación sistemática de los diversos papeles de los productores en el teatro musical comercial y sin fines de lucro. Con cincuenta y un ensayos escritos por especialistas internacionales en el campo, ofrece nuevas perspectivas sobre el mundo del teatro musical, su creación y su promoción. Las áreas clave de investigación incluyen las vidas y obras de productores cuyo trabajo es parte de un legado del teatro musical estadounidense y mundial, así como el papel, en gran medida descuidado por la crítica, del productor de teatro musical en la creación, comercialización y representación de musicales.
