Actualmente, hay 147 geoparques mundiales de la UNESCO en 41 paÃses, además de varios geoparques a nivel nacional. La aplicación de un enfoque holÃstico hacia dichos sitios sensibilizará al público en general sobre la necesidad de geoconservación de sitios geológicos importantes y la promoverá a través del geoturismo. Es una cuestión crucial, ya que varios paÃses de todo el mundo están ansiosos por desarrollar sus geoparques y están trabajando para la conservación de sitios de geopatrimonio a nivel nacional. Este libro único reúne contribuciones de 15 paÃses en forma de estudios de caso que analizan las realidades del patrimonio geográfico, los geoparques y el geoturismo. Los respectivos capÃtulos abordan el papel de los geoparques como herramientas esenciales para la educación, la recreación y la conservación de la naturaleza. It is a crucial issue, as various countriesaround the world are eager to develop their geoparks and are working for the conservation of geoheritage sites at the national level. This unique book gathers contributions from 15 countries in the form of case studies analysing the realities on of geographical heritage, geoparks and geotourism.
