Este libro proporciona una cobertura completa de todos los aspectos relacionados con el sueño pediátrico y sus trastornos asociados. Aborda la ontogenia y los aspectos madurativos del sueño fisiológico y los ritmos circadianos, así como los efectos del sueño en los distintos sistemas orgánicos en función del desarrollo. Organizado en nueve secciones, el libro comienza con una introducción básica al sueño y continúa con una extensa cobertura del sueño normativo y la homeostasis funcional. Luego, la tercera parte examina de manera concisa los aspectos humorales y de desarrollo del sueño, es decir, el papel emergente del tejido metabólico y la microbiota intestinal en la regulación. Las partes cuatro, cinco y seis analizan métodos de diagnóstico, técnicas de medición del sueño y aspectos específicos de la farmacoterapia y el soporte ventilatorio para el paciente pediátrico.
