Este SpringerBrief responde a la pregunta sobre cómo las aves reconocen a sus depredadores utilizando enfoques multidisciplinarios y describe los caminos de la investigación futura sobre el reconocimiento de depredadores. Se presta especial atención al papel de las caracterÃsticas clave para discriminar a los depredadores y no depredadores. La primera parte del libro ofrece una revisión exhaustiva de los mecanismos de reconocimiento de depredadores basada en estudios etológicos clásicos en aves no entrenadas. La segunda parte introduce una nueva visión sobre el tema que trata las teorÃas de la etologÃa cognitiva. Este enfoque implica el examen de palomas domésticas condicionadas y resalta las capacidades reales de las aves para reconocer y categorizar. |

A special focus is put on the role of key features to discriminate against predators and non-predators. The second part introduces a new view on the topic treating theories of cognitive ethology.
