Este libro se centra en cuestiones de método e interpretación en los estudios de paisajes sumergidos, centrándose en ilustraciones y estudios de casos de toda Europa con ejemplos adicionales de otras partes del mundo. Estos paisajes alguna vez estuvieron expuestos como tierra seca durante los bajos niveles del mar que prevalecieron durante los perÃodos glaciares que ocuparon la mayor parte del último millón de años y proporcionaron nuevos territorios extensos para la explotación humana. Su estudio hoy implica investigación submarina, utilizando técnicas y estrategias que se exponen claramente en estos capÃtulos.
